Detox massage

20 September, 2011

Detox massage helps to strengthen and relax muscles upon which the lymphatic system relies.

An inefficient lymphatic system encourages ill health and lethargy.  Massage improves blood and lymph flow and assists in the elimination of unwanted toxins.

What conditions is it used for?

The aim of detox massage is to promote physical and mental wellbeing via the elimination of toxins which have accumulated within the body.  Toxin overload, caused by, for example, foods, air, stress, smoking and general poor lifestyle, can lead to impaired immune function, exacerbated by poor lymphatic function.

What to expect

Detox massage is a light, hands on therapy, which can be used to treat a variety of conditions, including digestive problems, stress and tension, fatigue, recovery from injury and headaches.  The initial consultation will involve the taking of a case history, so that the therapist can tailor the massage to the needs of the individual.  Diet and lifestyle advice may also be given. The consultation may also begin with a full body brush which helps to stimulate blood flow and lymph circulation.
